Mousepaw took a huge breath, her brother Stormpaw had dared her to climb all the way to the great sycamore tree, and Mousepaw never declines a dare. "Here I go!" She jumped onto the side, and found the easy route. Her short legs pulled her small and light bodice onto the next limb. She rested and licked her paws on the next branch, then ontinued, faster now. The tree was huge and the branches were wider than three of her own bodies. She grabbed the next branch, but slipped, her paws were spread out if mid air, but safely, she had a nice long banner that kept her balanced. Thankfully she caught herself on the limb below.
"Come down right now!" Stormpaw screamed from the ground. "You're going to kill yourself, I take back my dare! I'll even give you a different one!" The gray tom paced back and forth, already knowing that his sister was going to ignore him. She never let anyone make fun of her for her small size, so she does anything you tell her to.
The brown and white apprentice climbed even higher after that, and definately tried harder. She climbed and climbed, and after what felt like, but wasn't, an hour, she was almost to the very top. She couldn't see anything, all the leaves where blinding her and she had no idea where to go. She decided just jump, so she did. Her paws landed on the branch first, and she dug her claws into the rotting bark. She lifted her legs higher and scrabled with her forpaws to reach the branch top. She took a deep breath and pushed as hard as she could, and thankfully made it. "I did it!" She jumped down one branch, at least it was easier getting down than it was getting up. Branch after branch she jumped, until she was within the reach of the ground. She jumped the last stretch then collapsed on the ground, her muscles hurting like crazy.
