The moon hung high above the gorge, stars scattered around it on the sky, like a midnight blue canvas sprinkled with white paint. Tabby fur blended with the shadows of the trees seperated by moonlight. Leaves crunched slightly underpaw; not crisp like in autumn, but almost damp and lightly cushioned from the melted frost. It had been warm the last few days, unusual for the middle of leaf-bare. Newleaf would be coming early. A mouse moved swiftly between tree roots, pausing and then dashing a few paces before pausing again to stand and check for danger. Bright blue eyes, turned away from the moon so as not to reflect it's light, penetrated long hanging branches and darkness to ascertain it's location in the shadow of a wide tree. Paws moved forward, pulling a form over the forest's carpet, silent in the shadows. The mouse busied itself digging at a half-buried nut, perhaps left by a squirrel to uncovered in a time of need. Long claws slid out, pressing against the earth. Three more pawsteps... two... one. Stripes blurred as the tabby leaped forward, crushing the mouse with a single paw, killing it with a swift flick to slice it's neck with thorn-sharp claws. Powerful hind legs kicked dirt over the limp body, to be collected later. Blue eyes turned to the sky, tracing the thick path of stars across the sky. Tigerwind watched the stars as they watched him. Then he turned, padding into the darkness for his next hunt.
[So much muse!! -celebrates- Too bad I'm at school and can't post more.]

Leafstar was watching him with a clear gaze. The wind was brushing her light brown fur. Slowly, she padded after him, supposing he'd want another cat to hunt with. Quickly, she leaped and bounded into the forest after him. With great leaps, she almost flew through the trees and shrubs. running made her remember that newleaf would be coming soon and the clan would have much to eat. Also there would be kitting which concluded to more swift-pawed warriors. Or maybe another skillful minded Medicine cat. Whatever it was, Leafstar knew it would make the clan stronger and make it ready to fight a long Leaf-Bare again. She had finally caught up to him. Slowly with deep breaths, she mewed, "How kind of you to hunt for the clan. Mind if I join you?" She then spotted a vole scuttling among the ferns. This one's mine. She thought to herself. The vole had his tiny paws on something. Leafstar had dropped into a slow hunting crouch, similar to the one that ThunderClan cats use. She predicted that it's next move would be over that oak tree root. She was right, for as the vole was about to scuttle there, she leaped, using her powerful SkyClan legs. She trapped the vole in her claws and gave it a swift bite. Then she burried the prey into the dirt and looked at Tigerwind. "So can I join you?" She asked.

Brown ears twitched at the noise of rustling underbrush behind. He knew who it was, he could tell by the way she moved through her territory, flying past every branch and over every root. Blue eyes did not blink as she appeared in front of him. Leafstar, leader of SkyClan. Tigerwind gazed steadily at his leader, not surprised by her arrival. He blinked once, eyes unreadable, as she posed the question. Before he could respond, she had jumped after the vole. She was exceptionally good at hunting in the forest; the best in the Clan. Suddenly, the tabby bunched his muscles, pushing off powerfully, straight over Leafstar's head. Large paws crashed down before the bird had finished spreading it's wings. Long claws opened the small body, allowing it's life to escape, leaving food to sustain another's life. Tigerwind scraped earth over the body, sending a quick thanks to StarClan for the freshkill that would feed his clan. Turning his deep blue eyes back to Leafstar, he nodded once. He turned his head, almost in a gesturing motion, before padding into the forest. "Why are you out hunting so late?" he asked, breaking the silence that he normally left for others to fill. Like a tiger, the deputy of SkyClan liked hunting alone, however close to his heart he held his Clan.

Leafstar's blue eyes blinked as Tigerwind asked his question. She didn't blame him for asking. As a leader, most cats would think she would be in camp, looking over the clan. That doesn't help though. she thought. Hunting helps the Clan and that's what I'm supposed to be doing as leader. She looked at Tigerwind. "Well, I though a little midnight hunt might be help to the Clan." she mewed with a straight steady voice.
