The roaring, hissing sound of the waterfall filled the air, drumming to the heartbeat of the the river that flowed over it's craggy edge. Life seemed to pulsate with the river's heartbeat, spreading around and beyong the steep edges of the gorge. Grass sprung high, bright green and lush. Flowers lifted their heads to the sun, some teetering over the edge, daring the waters to leap higher until they could play with the colorful petals before simply washing them away. Birds flittered through the air, a few singing along with the river. Rustlings among leaves and bark announced the presence of small creatures. A larger rustling mixed with the music of the river and waterfall, a flash of gray among green. Paws bent the grass gently, opening the way as they slowly padded towards the crashing water. Ears stayed still, pointing toward the waterfall; whiskers twitched as they brushed grass. An effortless leap and Stonefall sat at the edge of the gorge, eyes gazing down at the white foam and blue waves. A whispering breeze ruffled his fur like an old friend, waving the grass in imitation of the rolling water. Between the roaring, whispering, and crashing, memories flitted like a butterfly, tossed about like a leaf in contradicting winds. A flash of ginger, eyes stretched wide in fear. The cold slap of water, and the crumbling of rocks. Pulling the living weight, pleading to StarClan that they both survived, even as his muscles cramped and weakened. Then the feel of stone beneath his claws, and dragging the foreigner from the clutch of the river. Dark amber eyes filled with gratitude flashed before green eyes, and suddenly Stonefall found himself shaking his head roughly. No. He couldn't think of her. She was just a WindClan apprentice he had saved. Nothing more, nothing less. Stonefall was a loyal warrior, dedicated to his clan. Just as he had once been determined to see her, to rub against her soft fur, now he was determined to give her up, to forget that WindClan apprentice that pulled at his heart like the river had pulled at her. Green eyes rose to look across the gorge at the grass rolling like waves. She was probably a warrior by now as well. And they both held their clans dear. "Goodbye, Echopaw." He thought he saw a flash of ginger before he ran.
[We should post with them some more.]

The sherbet colored fae stalked forward, her orbs darting side to side in search for a certain someone. The wind blow in her direction, and she caught a wiff of the smell of him. She smiled with ease as she thought of his wonderful smell... his wonderful eyes... his wonderful personality.... She straitened up after her few seconds of heaven, and continued forward.
Do with me what you will, my love
She thought she heard something, but maybe it was just the wind in the trees. Was he really here? Was she really going to see him? A frown formed on her perfectly round face, and she looked around for any sign of movement. A flash of grey dashed over the feild, and Echopaw spun around with a huge smile on her face, only to be disapointed that it was a rabbit. The frown returned, and she continued with her head down in sorrow.
I walk alone
But then, as she looked up, a smile widened across her face. She raced forward, toward the edge of the falls. She slowed to a trot as she neared the dangerous edge, but quickly nudged the grey cat beside her. Stonefall? There was excitement in her eyes, along with fear, and maybe something else. Was it love?

Stonefall nearly jumped out of his skin as he felt someone nudge him. He spun around, heart pounding so loud he was sure she could hear it. But was it because of the suddenness of her arrival or the familiar feel of her fur, her scent of wind-blown grass and rabbits with the sweet mix of heather? "Echopaw!" the RiverClan warrior gasped. He stared into her green eyes, soaking into them thirstily. But he quickly tore away his gaze. It would never work. That was an apprentice's fantasy, one that contradicted his dreams. He would be the best RiverClan warrior he could be. And he couldn't do that if his heart lay across the border. Realization hit the gray tom quickly and he turned back to the she-cat, exclaiming, "What are you doing on this side of the border?" Adding in a low hiss, "What if you get caught?!"

Echopaw smiled as she recognized the soft voice of the cat she loved. Something was different though; it was as if he didn't care for her now. I wanted to see you.... Her golden opts gazed intently up at the gray brute. She cocked her head to the side as he didnt reply. What if you get caught!? She shrugged, and a sort of a frown formed on her face. He didn't use to be like this. I wont get caught, I promise. We'll be safe. She flashed her teeth while showing her greatest smile. Let's see what he says to that.
I cant get destracted But I know I'm indestructable
The ginger fae shivered as the wind blew over the stream. It brought with it a cold chill, and even though it was near 80o outside today, Echopaw was cold. But maybe she was shivering from the cold, maybe something more like she didn't know how Stonefall would reply. Or worse yet, want to know how he would reply.
Dont worry bout me I'm gonna be alright
She lay down in the cool grass, the dampness of the dew rubbing on her clean fur. She licked the liquid off, and gave a shine to her coat. She sighed and layed her head down, but her eyes stayed on Stonefall, the whole time. Her eyes were full of love, but his... his were cold, worried, and confused... They showed no sign of love or even care for the pretty ginger apprentice.

Stonefall fidgeted anxiously, one ear flicking down self-consciously. He didn't like this, this cold feeling inside, even as the greenleaf sun blazed above him. If only Echopaw had never fallen over the falls so many moons ago. If only he had not fallen for the ginger and white she-cat. He couldn't bring himself to blame her, the one as lively as the wind. So all he could do was feel quilt and shame himself. For being so weak he could not resist her beauty, both inside and out. Why couldn't he have been attracted to one of his own clanmates? If only, if only, why? Green orbs stared at the ground unseeingly, confused, a mass of mixed emotions swirling in the shades of emerald and jade. “Go…” The word fell in the air, tumbling softly, like a feather in the wind. He did not look up. He closed his eyes tightly, refusing to look at her, look in those beautiful amber eyes that could make his resolve crumple like a leaf. And he yowled, letting the sorrow and pain loose without a hint of them in his voice. An emotionless caterwaul to the grass and earth below their feet. “Please go! You shouldn’t be here. You can’t come here anymore!” And he stood, still as the stone for which he was named, gray and cold as if he stood in shadow. It would never work. He could no longer allow Echopaw to be his warming sun. He was a RiverClan cat, and he was proud of that. She was a WindClan cat and he was happy she was. He raised his head and opened his eyes. Determination flashed like fire in them, bright even as a single tear welled up and spilled out, slipping down his cheek to slide off the tip of a whisker. And with that tear, he gave up on Echopaw. He was a warrior now, and Echopaw would be soon. Just as much as he wanted to be the best RiverClan warrior he could be, he wanted Echopaw to be the best WindClan warrior she could be. They could never be closer than across the border. The falls roared beside them, into the rolling river. The wind blew around them, rustling through grass and leaves and fur. Gray as the stones in the river; ginger and white as the sun and clouds in the sky. [Oof! -gets struck down by muse- Yaay, my muse is back! Now I have to go take a shower, but I'll try and respond to the other threads asap!]

Goodbye

The wind blew silently through the marshy feild, not moving a branch, the water, a stone, even a leaf. The warm cheerful weather had started off Echopaw's day so well. And here she comes, marching up to this familiar cat she knew so well.... And the sun seems to be blown away by the slightest wind. And what does the breeze bring back? A rainstorm. Of tears.
If I had a horse I'd ride off in the sunset If I had wings, I'd fly off In the sky so blue
Echopaw blinks once, her golden eyes coated by a glossy water. As her eyes closed the water poured out. Just a streak at first, but then more came. A storm seemed to want to break open her eye. But she wouldn't let it. She would be strong. At least, she'd try to be. The ginger fae winced as his words hit her. Go! Please go! You shouldn’t be here. You can’t come here anymore! Echopaw's bottom lip quivered, and her eyes open. Tears poured out, and she looked up at Stonefall with endless pain pouring out along with the tears. Of coarse, the warrior paid no attention.
If I had the time, I'd spend my Whole life dreaming But I'd wake up, still in love with you
He acted as if he didn't care. Was it because she was still an apprentice? Was that it? Was she not good enough for him? She didn't feel like asking. She wished so much for Stonefall to look up at her now. To see how much pain he was causing her. To see all her love for him pouring out of her. Everything seemed so perfect, but the next second, she seemed a failure at life. I thought I was succeeding.... I thought that I was doing well.... That we could be together and everything would be perfect..... But the world isnt a nice place. its dangerous, especially in the catagory of love.
