Silverbrook's small form swam through the water to the RiverClan side. As she clambered up the bank the silver she-cat shook water from her fur, sending diamonds of liquid flying in all directions. Amber-tinted green eyes gazed around her. She knew she was tresspassing but she had an excuse in case someone found her.
Medicine cats could cross boarders to get herbs. There was a nearby growth of wild catmint that grew only on the RiverClan side. Silverbrook could lie and say someone in her clan had greencough or that Whitewhisper wanted her to stock up just in case since winter was likely to come early this year.
The silver fae's real intention was to try and see Sunstone again. She wasn't sure why she was doing it. She was a medicine cat apprentice. She couldn't love, could never give Sunstone kits. Unless she gave up StarClan's calling.....
Silverbrook chased the thought away and made her way toward the wild catmint. The silver fae took her time, examining her surroundings carefully for any sign of Sunstone.
When she reached the catmint, Silverbrook examined the growth, biting off a few stocks. She was about to turn and leave, heavy-hearted when Sunstone's approaching scent made her stop mid-step.

Light paw-steps brought the golden striped tom swiftly towards the bank of the shimmering river. His mind still dwelled on the fateful meeting with Silverbrook. Even the next day, he still thought about what she had said to him before returning to ThunderClan.
Sunstone had decided to hunt to chase the memories from his mind. She was right, they couldn't be together, not with the path she had taken.
Sunstone released a soft sigh as he sat lightly on the bank of the river. His lime optics scanned the water for a flash of glimmering scales. The tom expertly flashed his paw into the cool water, flipping a wriggling fish from the water and killing it with a swift bite.
After a bit, the tomcat had successfully caught nearly 4 good sized fish, missing 2. A smile flittered across his muzzle as the tom buried the fresh kill. As the sun beat down on his rippling pelt, the tom decided to take a refreshing swim.
He launched himself into the water, a cool refreshing feeling washing over his body. He churned his paws powerfully through the current, cutting the water's powerful waves....
As he neared the other side, a familer scent flooded over him. The scent of another cat, the scent of Silverbrook. Silently, Sunstone pulled his body onto the bank, cautiously peering form the reeds on the bank. "Silverbrook?" he called out warily.

The silver she-cat had returned to her work, thinking that it was her imagination. When Sunstone called out to her, she thought it was probably a clanmate looking for her. "Yes? I'm over here, is something wrong in camp?" Silverbrook asked, snipping another stock.
Silverbrook looked around. Sunstone was hidden by some foliage nearby and the wind blew his scent away. Silverbrook looked around curiously. "Hello?" she called.

Sunstone let out a soft sigh and padded out of the reeds, revealing himself to the petite she-cat. He padded close to the she-cat, his steps light and his heart heavy. "Silverbrook, it me. What are you doing here?" he asked softly.

Silverbrook nearly leapt out of her fur. "Oh, I was getting some catmint. One of our warriors has a cold and we want to be prepared, just in case it turns into greencough."
Though innocent looking, Silverbrook was a flawless liar. Cats always thought just because she was a medicine cat she was truthful and innocent. That wasn't always the case. She had been a warrior before and used her innocent looks to her advantage. No one could ever tell when she was lying and when she was telling to truth.
"I'll leave though, I have what I need" Silverbrook said, flicking her tail at the small bundle of catmint. "Tell your medicine cat that I'll bring some herbs next time they need them."

Sunstone stood his ground. listening to what the she0cat had to say. He flicked his tail and sat down lightly. The tom swept his gaze over her eyes, looking for any alternative reason to come to RiverClan territory. Her gaze looked truthful, but something about what she had said last night told Sunstone she was here for another reason. "Silverbrook, you weren't here to gather herbs, were you." he asked plainly. His leaf green optics gazed into her's as spoke again. "Please, don't lie to me."

Silverbrook got to her paws and circled Sunstone, flicking his nose lightly with her tail tip. "Who said I was lying? I'm a medicine cat, I wouldn't lie, especially not to you." There was affection gleaming dimly in her eyes and a hint of teasing along with pure innocence.
Silverbrook sat down again, using her paw to gather the catmint. "Well, I suppose I'll be on my way."
The silver fae padded slowly toward the river, waiting for Sunstone to call her back, hoping he would.

Sunstone's optics were locked onto the dappled she cat as she playfully circled around him. He let out a soft purr and stood, reaching out to nuzzle her softly.
He let out a soft sigh as she turned to leave, dipping into the cool water. The farther away she got, the heavier Sunstone's heart became. The tom walked slowly to the edge of the river and called out her name. "Silverbrook. We need to talk." he meowed a bit loudly.

Silverbrook looked back over her shoulder, putting a surprised expression on her face. The dappled she-cat padded obediantly up the bank again and put down the catmint. "What is it Sunstone? I really should be getting back."
Silverbrook wanted to make sure anyone listening wouldn't think anything was out of the ordinary. She kept her tone mild with a hint of affection that was meant only for Sunstone's ears. She sat down in front of him and waited patiently for him to make his case.

The ginger tom cat sat lightly across from Silverbrook and curled his long tail over his paws. As the sun traveled to the middle of the sky, causing humidity to plague the forest cats, Sunstone rested his leaf green gaze on Silverbrook.
A low purr escaped his jaws, a purr that he had meant to keep to himself. The tom quickly changed his gaze to a nearby clump of bracken.
After a few moments of gathering his thoughts, Sunstone returned his gaze to Silverbrook's facead. "Silverbrook, are you sure you are meant to be a medicine cat?" he meowed softly and carefully. The tom knew that most of the time, medicine cats knew what they were destined to be in their kit years. But, how Silverbrook looked at Sunstone, how she spoke to him, the tom had a hunch that her fate belonged else where.

Silverbrook found Sunstone's gaze again. An internal war was being waged now. She had lived as a warrior for at least a season and had enjoyed most of it. She had left that life because she had been tired of being teased, taunted and underestimated.
"I don't know" Silverbrook admitted. "I don't know anymore. I was content with it because I got respect and I was doing something for my clan that was truely needed. I'm starting to think maybe I miss my old warrior life."

Sunstone nodded solemnly. "It, it just seemed like you weren't happy being a medicine cat. I mean, like you said, you don't get much respect just being in Whitewhisper's shadow." he meowed softly. The tom knew that Silverbrook had other reasons the dappled she cat didn't like life as a medicine cat, but he and her both knew that they didn't have to say that.

Silverbrook padded closer to Sunstone and rubbed her muzzle against his neck. "I was going to talk to Whitewhisper tonight about going back to being a warrior" she murmured, drinking in his scent. "But it still wouldn't work, we're in different clans but I suppose it's better to break one rule rather then two."

Sunstone purred softly and brushed his pelt against Silverbrook's. He took a few steps back and looked at Silverbrook, a smile light forming across his muzzle. "What if I joined ThunderClan?" he asked calmly.
no muse...

Silverbrook stared at him with wide eyes. "You...you'd do that just because of me? But what about RiverClan? They're your clan, you can't abdanon them, not even for me. I'm not worth loosing your clan for."
The silver she-cat licked Sunstone's ears lovingly. "I don't want you to do something you'll regret."
