The ginger tom let out a soft sigh and let his tail drop. He took on last glance at the ThunderClan she-cat and turned back towards the river. He slid into the cool water, his once dry fur becoming soaked yet again. He churned his powerful paws and propelled himself back towards the RiverClan camp.

Silverbrook felt a bit ashamed of being mean to the tom but knew she had to obey StarClan's laws as well as the warrior code. She wasn't allowed to mate. She had nothing to offer this tom.
The young she-cat got to her paws and padded to the river's edge. She dipped her head and lapped at the cool water. She was over the boarder but she doubted Sunstone would stop her, after all, she was a medicine cat apprentice. She wasn't likely to jump into the river and try to drown him or attack RiverClan.
"I'm sorry" Silverbrook murmured, looking after the tom. "I have nothing to offer you as far as healing."
Sunstone would be the first cat she couldn't heal. Even when Ravenfeather was struck by a monster, she had healed her with Whitewhisper's help. No cat in her clan had fallen because she couldn't heal them and yet, one tom outside of her clan was the first cat she couldn't heal.

Sunstone let out a low growl and slapped the still water with his fore paw. He lashed his tail in annoyance and looked up towards the darkening sky. "Why do you have to make everything so hard?" He called to the sky. He looked back at Silverbrook and spoke softly. "You don't know what I've been through, and you will never understand."

Silverbrook caught her words but only just barely. She shook her head. "No, I will never understand, just as you will never understand the pain of watching clanmates die and not being able to help them."
Silverbrook sighed sadly. She didn't know how to help this tom. She'd never dealt with broken hearts before, she knew only what Whitewhisper told her, broken hearts can only be cured by love. It was because of that, a medicine cat was to love all their clanmates, care of them as a mother cared for her kits and never let them down. Even if he wasn't in her clan, Silverbrook knew she had let him down badly.
"I'm very sorry" Silverbrook meowed. "I'm only a medicine cat, not StarClan. I can't heal a broken heart, only your true love can do that. In time I'm sure StarClan will find the cat for you."

Sunstone let out another sigh and pulled his body onto the bank. He looked towards the sky and back at Silverbrook. "Ive been searching for moons. You would think StarClan would have found a love for me by now." his tone was blunt and painful.

Silverbrook frowned. The silver she-cat leapt into the river and with surprising strength swam to the bank just as quickly as most RiverClan cats. When she padded onto the bank she looked very small, her long fur clinging to her thin freame but she was furious.
"Will you stop whining like a lost kittypet?" Silverbrook snarled. "StarClan isn't there to do everything for you! They're there to guide you not give you blunt directions. I'm not surprised they haven't answered you yet! You obviously don't deserve it if all you do is lay around and complain!"
If her fur had been dry, it would have been standing on end in anger. Her limbs shook furiously and her green eyes were flashing with the fiercness of any ThunderClan warrior. Her tail was lashing angrily and her body was rigid with anger.

Sunstone dove into the water and stood before the small she-cat. "Why don't you learn the whole story before yelling at someone about it! My life has been horrible, for all sorts of different reasons! And you, you just made it that much worse." He hissed. The tom stalked back towards the RiverClan camp, his fur on end and his ears back. How could anyone be that rude?

"Oh cry me a river" Silverbrook snapped. "I hear every single sob-story my clan can come up with. I stand in a clearing all day checking wounds and counting herbs. Do you honestly think there's a sad story I haven't heard? Even my clanmates with the worst lives don't cry and whine as much as you do."
Sunstone had crossed the point of no return. He had gone and gotten Silverbrook mad. An angry Silverbrook was not a force to be reckoned with, especially when StarClan was involved. Though she had the look of a kittypet, Silverbrook was all but defenseless when she was mad. She would have an arguement with Lionstar and win in no time. Sunstone wouldn't know what hit him until she was already across the river.
Silverbrook stood, tail lashing and eyes narrowed, waiting for Sunstone's response.

Sunstone let out a low growl and turned to face the she-cat. ThunderClan didn't have any castaways, any half Clans, nothing like that. At least, not at the moment.
He stalked towards the she-cat, his muscles rippling and his golden coat shinning from the light of the sun. "My father, is Bloodfang." he meowed gravley.

"You honestly think I care who was your father?" Silverbrook snapped. "The blood doesn't make the cat, you can't seem to get that. I don't care if your father was the first tom in the forest, I wouldn't act any different. Typical, focus on your own problems and blame the world for your misery. You honestly think I haven't heard that before? Well if you're so intent on being angry at the world you're no better then a rogue."
Silverbrook turned away and stalked toward the river, tail held high and eye flashing.

Sunstone rolled his eyes and stared back at the she-cat. His voice soon turned from painful, to sarcastic and angry. "Well, you know. My life was all fine and dandy until my father killed my on true love. He killed my mother as well, so, I dont really have anyone to look up to, to be with, to talk to, no one. Im sure you havent' ever felt that before, since you are the medicine cat apprentice. Youre loved by every one! Well, why dont you try being the outcast, the cat n the shadows for once. Then, come and talk to me."

Silverbrook spun around, her claws flexing in the ground. He assumed everyone like her? No, they thought she was coward. She had never liked fighting. She was small, long furred and delicate looking. They called her kittypet all her life. She had taken the medicine cat position because that was the only way for her to help her clan since she was useless when it came to fighting.
"I've been the cat in the shadows my whole life" Silverbrook snarled. "I watched my siblings die and my closest friends go to battle and not come back. I've had to stand by and watch other kits and apprentices play and learn while I was stuck in the medicine cat clearing. Try being nothing but a runt to your clan. They put me with Whitewhisper because healing is the only thing I can do right. All I can do is watch, I can't speak out or help when battles come. All I do is clean up after it."
Silverbrook locked gazes with Sunstone. "I've accepted the fate StarClan gave me, can you say as much?"

"I have accepted the fate I was forced into. You haven't experienced true love. You wouldn't know." he hissed back.

"I love my clan as my kits, as I'm supposed to" Silverbrook growled. "I am faithful to StarClan's laws."
Silverbrook leapt into the river and started swimming toward the ThunderClan side. She was nearly half-way there when the undertow caught her. Silverbrook let out a yowl that was cut off sharply as she was dragged under the water, caught in the current. She didn't come up.

Sunstone let out a started yowl and watched as the she-cat was pulled under the powerful current. He dove into the tide, swimming powerfully towards where she disappeared. Sunstone dove under the water, searching frantically for the cat. When he saw her dappled coat, Sunstone grabbed hold of her scruff and pulled the she-cat towards the surface. He swam with all his might against the current, his lungs screaming for air. When they both surfaced, Sunstone dragged her ragged body to the bank.
